We’re so excited you have made the decision to begin your practice with us!  Before you come, here are a few things that will help you prepare.

What style of yoga do you offer?

We are a hot yoga studio teaching Hot Vinyasa, Hot 26 (formerly known as Bikram style) and Yin Yoga. Our Hot 26 classes include the 90 minute Hot Classic, 75 minute Hot Classic and 60 minute Hot Quickie.

What can I expect out of a Hot Vinyasa class?

In our Hot Vinyasa classes you can expect to move fluidly from one pose to the next in sync with your breath. Teachers design each practice based on their own practice. Typically sun salutations are included in these classes, though each class will reflect the personality of the teacher. Generally this class is around 95 degrees, with low lights and music.

What can I expect out of Hot Classic + Hot Quickie classes?

Each of these Hot 26 style classes have a set sequence that is *mostly* the same each time. Each class begins and ends with a breathing exercise. You will work through the standard 26 poses. Class begins standing up until about the last 1/3 of the practice when you will move to floor postures.  This is an outstanding practice for building strength, discipline and knowledge of alignment. These classes are excellent for all levels, including beginners and those looking to stay off of their wrists. 105 degrees, no music and brighter lights.

What should I wear to class?

Wear something that is comfortable for sweating and movement. You will sweat a lot, so avoid fabrics that will cling to wet skin in such a way that they restrict your movement. Pants are best for our Vinyasa classes if you wish to work on arm balancing.

What gear should I bring to class?

Bring a yoga mat, full length towel and water to class. If you do not have these items, we rent mats and towels for $2 each and typically have water on hand for sale. You can also buy a mat and yoga towel at the studio; see pricing in our boutique.

How early should I arrive for class?

If this is your first time to our studio please arrive at least 15 min before class starts so we can get you checked in and settled. The studio is open a full half an hour before class starts. We lock the door exactly at class time, if you are late it is highly likely that you will miss class. Please plan accordingly.

What is the etiquette for the hot room?

Please bring only what you need for class into the room; your mat, towel and water, props for vinyasa classes or to modify for injuries in hot 26 classes.

Please do not have conversations with your friends when you are setting up for class or leaving class. All chatting should be reserved for outside the hot room. If you must speak to another yogi while in the hot room, please keep it brief and whisper.

Please practice Saucha; come to your practice as clean as you are able. Avoid strong smelling perfumes and soaps. Breathing is a significant part of the practice, so allow the people around you to breathe freely.

Leave your phone outside the room and put your smartwatch on theater mode. All of your communication will be there, fortunately or unfortunately, when you are done with your practice. Exceptions may be made in extreme circumstances or if you are on call. If you need an exception you can discuss this with your teacher before class.

Expect to stay in the room for the whole class. Make sure you use the restroom before you walk in, bring enough water etc…It is disruptive to your neighbors and can be damaging to your practice if you leave the heat while you are acclimating. You can always take breaks in the room at any time you need to.

Do I need to stay for the whole class?

Yes, plan to stay for the entirety of the class as it disrupts the group dynamics to have students coming and going throughout the practice.

What classes are the best for beginners?

All of our classes are appropriate for beginners. We recommend trying a 90 minute class early on to get the full experience and avoid overthinking it. If you are just beginning your practice, expect to be confused for your first few classes. After you acclimate to the heat (this often takes about 5 classes) you will be able to start making more sense of the movements. Be patient with yourself and your teacher and simply do your best.

How should I prepare before arriving to class?

We are a hot studio and do not skimp on the heat. Make sure you are clean and well hydrated. In general we recommend planning meals to avoid eating anywhere from 2-4 hours before class. Some people benefit from a small, light snack close to class time. You will figure out what works for you as you practice more.

How should I sign up for my first class?

Download the MindBody app and buy your class through the app. This will ensure you the easiest way to sign up for all your future classes. You can also sign up through the schedule page of our website or in person, although our classes are often busy and we cannot always guarantee a spot in class if you don’t sign up in advance.

Do you have parking?

There is free street parking on the nearby blocks around the studio. We also have a small parking lot located on Cambronne St. behind the studio.

What amenities does your studio have?

We have cubbies for your personal belongings, large dressing rooms with showers, bathrooms and blowdryers. There is a water fountain with reverse osmosis filtered water to refill your bottle, and we also offer mat and towel rentals.

What is Yoga?

In its most traditional sense Yoga is a way of being that encompasses all aspects of life. The practice of Yoga is said to lead to spiritual liberation through adherence to the 8 limbs of the practice as laid out by Patangali in The Yoga Sutras. Today many people use the word Yoga simply to describe two of these 8 limbs; Asana and Pranayama, which are the physical yoga poses and breathwork. At Yes, Yoga we practice Asana and Pranayama.

What can I expect out of a Yin Yoga class?

In Yin Yoga you will practice long relaxing holds of poses close to the ground. You will explore the way your body changes over time, beginning with the initial sensation of the stretch and over the course of the 2-5 minute hold as the fascia loosen and the stretch deepens. You can expect lots of hip openers, backbends and twists in this deeply relaxing class. Heat for this class is merely residual, with low lights and music.
